But it all depends on what is important to you. If the Holiday Inn is going to offer you a room facing the parking lot and The Key Lime Inn has something pool side I would take the pool side room. Last thing I want to add is really check into what type of room they are offering and where it is in the places you are looking at. Been to the KW once, was recently at Isla Morada. As far as Holiday Inns go, this is a nice one. United States - Keys/Key West Hotels - My wife and I are tent planning to fly to Key West for Labor day. I have heard some of the rooms smell musty but all older hotels down here have that problem. It is on a roof of one of the smaller buildings and overlooks nothing. Rooms are small and the pool area is not very nice. They did room upgrades not too long ago so they could call themselves a Holiday Inn Crown Plaza instead of a basic Holiday Inn. The Crown Plaza is in the thick of things (400 block of Duval). COLOR PHOTOS throughout to spark your wanderlust HONEST RECOMMENDATIONS FROM LOCALS on the best sights, restaurants, hotels, beaches, snorkeling and scuba. Just a FYI, Duval Street runs about 14 blocks long with most of the bars tourist attractions between block 0 and block 700. If you want laid back, I heartily recommend Parmers Place (with a website of the same name) on Little Torch Key, about 28 miles north of Key West. So if you are planning on doing the party scene every night you might get a bit tired of the walk. There are very few hotels near but not on Key West. It is at the quiet end of Duval and one block over. They have a good size pool area and offer a small continental breakfast. and a good choice if you want to stay in town but not a B&B or guest house. They do a nice breakfast in the morning too. Ive never used At Home in Key West, but I know others whove used it and been very pleased - they have lots of different accommodation options - and you might take a look at their website. Some, I have heard but not in a while, are a little tacky. It is much small then The Key lime Inn and rooms are uniquely decorated. The Blue Parrot is also in a good location (very close to The Key lime Inn). The location is good, only a couple blocks from Duval Street and they do have parking. I think they also offer a continental breakfast. They have a couple different types of room but even the basic room is nice. It was renovated a few years ago and they really did a nice job. I guess it all depends on what you like because they are all a little different. I've done plenty of research on rates and quality of facilities - i can essily tell you if the price you're getting is cheap enough to justify staying out there (I suspect that it's not).Tough choice. Just curious - what rate have you been quoted for the Travel Lodge? I visited KW in July 98 and am returning this Feb. There are a few guesthouses that cater to "adult lifestyles" and also some that market themselves specifically to lesbian and gay travelers but these establishments generally make that very clear in their advertising and websites. I don't question the veracity of the previous poster's remarks about "a bowl of condoms" out in plain view but that sort of thing is far from typical. yes, parkign is a big prblem but if you stay at a facility that offers parking (as many do) you won't need your car for the entire weekend. There are plenty of quality guesthouses in Old Town that will be competitive with if not cheaper than the Travel Lodge in addition to having much nicer atmosphere and far more convenient location.
